Stearns Weaver Miller's Land Use, Environment, and Government Affairs practice group has responded to the recent wave of federal, state, and local environmental regulations by developing a unique practice in the area of environmental law. Our attorneys evaluate environmental audits in both real estate and lending transactions. Whether hazardous waste, sewage treatment, endangered species, or wetlands issues are involved, we handle the needs of our clients and in the event that an environmental issue arises, we have the experience to coordinate any required remediation efforts.

We work with clients seeking to redevelop property by assisting clients in obtaining brownfield designations, and in obtaining federal, state and local permits required to complete remediation to put property back into productive use. We represent owners and operators of industrial and commercial operations, including mines, pharmaceutical companies, chemical manufacturers, and landfill operations and assist these clients with obtaining land use and environmental regulatory approvals for their operations and in resolving permit violations. We have responded to administrative and civil challenges in state and federal court to land use approvals and regulatory permits granted to our clients.
